About us
Freshwater Consulting Ltd. (Freshwater) is a local Manitoba water resource engineering firm with a focus on drainage infrastructure, water management, flood mapping, and hydrotechnical support for civil, environmental, and construction projects. Freshwater was established in 2023 to service the Western Canadian civil infrastructure market with the hydrotechnical engineering required for roadway design, bridge and culvert design, water retention systems, and stream restoration. Freshwater provides skilled engineering through 1D and 2D numerical modelling software solutions and can provide data management and delivery within industry standard GIS software.
Water Resources Engineering
Our firm is uniquely structured to support a wide variety of drainage and water management projects. We work with private landowners to design drainage solutions and resolve drainage conflicts, we work with larger consulting firms to support major infrastructure design, and we work for government agencies to complete flood mapping studies.
Water resources engineering projects include site survey, hydrologic assessment, design flow development, hydraulic modelling, and design documents prepared using professional drafting software.
Freshwater brings global corporate engineering experience from world leading consulting firms and makes it accessible to all clients.
Survey & GIS
Fundamental to any civil engineering and/or water resources project is quality survey data at the onset of the design. To support internal design projects, we are equiped with survey grade Trimble GNSS equipment available to deploy on short notice. Aerial photography is captured using DJI camera drones.
Data is quickly and efficiently managed through ESRI ArcGIS Pro software and incorporated into hydraulic models and design deliverables.
Similiar to our approach with water resources engineering, Freshwater is able to offer topographic survey services to small and large clients as a combined service without appraoching additional survey contractors.

Having developed his experience across Canada and Australia, Nick is a professional engineer specializing in hydrologic analysis, hydraulic modelling, drainage design, water resource engineering, dam safety reviews, data collection, and GIS data management. He has worked on small and large projects throughout Canada and is focused on providing high quality engineering services that will result in a positive benefit to his clients, the community, and the environment.
